1. There are three main types of soil- sandy soil, loamy soil and clayey soil.

3. Texture and appearance
Sandy soil- It is granular soil that contains small rocks and mineral particles.
Loamy soil- It is composed of sand, silt and clay.
Clayey soil- It is a finely grained soil. This soil is heavy because of the small size of the particles.

Loamy soil- It is used for gardening and agriculture.
Clayey soil- It is used to make earthen pots and toys. It also has medicinal properties.
6. Soil erosion- When the top fertile layer of the soil is washed away by the natural forces like water or wind, it is called soil erosion.
7. Deforestation and overgrazing by cattle plays a part in soil erosion.
8.Crops cannot grow in an area where the soil has been eroded and this affects the life of people living in that region.
